A HOLIDAY 'AD-VANTAGE' POINT
My wife and I spent this past Christmas in Atlanta with other family that live in neighboring cities. It was another memorable 5 days, and so good to see my other siblings as well as nieces and nephews I hadn't seen since before this past summer. It was especially good to spend time with our own two children again since our historic trip to the Bayou last spring. Time really does seem to fly when memories of good times never lose their appeal.
We did some typical things during this holiday trip; like last minute shopping, watching professional football and basketball games, overnight stays with my brother and sister-in-law, opening gifts together, and enjoying Christmas dinner at their home with the rest of the family that were still in the area. That time of fellowship with family is always special; now more than ever since the 'circle' is getting smaller as we get older.
One thing we did do though for the first time was attend a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at Peachtree Church near downtown Atlanta. Only myself, my wife, and our kids attended but the message by the speaker was really compelling. He challenged the audience about the need to adopt the character of Christ and not just be content with a 'scripted version' of behavior that doesn't really honor him, and the reason he came, and then making the ultimate sacrifice for us. The speaker gave each person who wanted one a copy of his new book after the service ended, and the atmosphere left me feeling hopeful, and really inspired.
That is why I decided for this edition, in the spirit of giving, to try and help leverage endeavors by two of my favorite people with 'Shout Outs' about their businesses--My wife (my Queen) and her 'Flowers by Alberta's Self-paced Floral Design Training Course, and also my niece--with her 'Weight Loss Journal entitled, 'Eat the Word'..They are both women of faith, and I greatly admire what they've set out to accomplish.

My most recent book, Eclipsed by Fate recently received the 'Five Star-Silver Book Award from the Literary Titan Book Review Platform in December of last year in the genre of Fiction. This is the second award I've received in the past 12 months, and I am honored to have been recognized among the other authors. My sincere thanks to the Editor-in-Chief of Literary Titan for his thoughtful and heartfelt commentary about the book. A photo of the Award Certificate is also shown.

Library Addition
'Eclipsed by Fate', has also been added to the Pedestal Key 'Book Shelf'. As I mentioned in the previous issue of this newsletter, it is the sequel to the 3rd story in my first book (Keys-Portraits of Trials & Truth), published in 2020 by Christian Faith Publishing. The book is currently available in paperback as well as electronic formats. It will make the perfect gift for lovers of suspenseful crime dramas, but at its core also contains mystical as well as spiritual elements. The complete book summary and order details can be found on the 'Books by James Lloyd' order platform on this site. The Ebook version is also available on Kobo.com, where you can also leave a book review directly on the site. You must Go to their link, (https://www.kobo.com) if you are a visitor and create an account (free, with no obligation) in order to access the book review platform. Below is an excerpt from the book.
'Eclipsed by Fate' - Excerpt
'It was evident to the detectives that the players were high-rollers, willing to do whatever it took to remove any annoying liabilities out of their way; even to the extent of ending someone's life. Those players, for all intents and purposes, were still a mystery after months of investigative work. Rob's initial surveillance of the Dean and what he witnessed at Regency Square Townhomes was the first real break in the case. It came with the help of that vagabond mysteriously showing up inside the precinct, then just as quickly vanishing after informing detective Russell about what the Dean at Welker College knew. Diedrek's time in a coma only frustrated their efforts since what he may have known about his attacker, or why he was attacked, was still inside his head. They would unwittingly be rewarded soon enough though, with information from an unlikely source; a source that would provide the breakthrough they've been looking for.'
FOOTNOTE
In the previous issue I told you about being inspired to start developing a work of fiction that will be loosely based on my own personal experiences growing up. Well, I've begun to churn story lines that might be featured in it. It will still be supported by actual historical references to the small town in the Jim Crow south that I grew up in, and I have more than enough rich material to sift though. I'm still undecided about using mixed-genres though, but I'll keep you posted on how it's progressing.
